CODE OF CONDUCT

Purpose

The Scottsdale Artists League (“League”) is committed to fostering a respectful, supportive, and professional environment for all members, guests, venue partners, and the public.

This Code of Conduct establishes standards of behavior expected of all members and provides fair and consistent procedures for addressing violations in accordance with Arizona Revised Statutes § 10-3621 and the League’s Bylaws.

Scope

This Code applies to all members of the League, including officers, directors, board members, committee chairs, and general members.

It applies to conduct at all League-related activities, including but not limited to:

●       Meetings

●       Art shows and exhibitions

●       Workshops and demonstrations

●       Setup and teardown activities

●       Social events

●       Any communication conducted on behalf of or in reference to the League, including electronic and social media

Non-Discrimination

The League does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, national origin, age, disability, or any other characteristic protected by applicable law.

Standards of Conduct

All members shall:

(a) Treat all members, guests, venue staff, and the public with courtesy, dignity, and respect.

(b) Conduct themselves in a professional manner that reflects positively on the League and its mission.

(c) Respect the authority of officers, board members, and committee chairs acting within their official capacities.

(d) Comply with the League’s bylaws, policies, and procedures, and with all rules and regulations of venues and facilities used by the League.

(e) Refrain from conduct that disrupts League activities or interferes with other members’ participation.

(f) Resolve disagreements privately and constructively and bring unresolved concerns to the Board through appropriate channels.

(g) Respect copyright laws and comply with the League’s Artist Reference Material Usage Policy.

(h) Refrain from communicating with venue officials, sponsors, partner organizations, or other external parties on behalf of the League unless expressly authorized by the Board, the President, or the designated chairperson responsible for the event or activity.

Prohibited Conduct

The following conduct is prohibited and may result in disciplinary action up to and including expulsion:

(a) Verbal abuse, intimidation, threats, bullying, or harassment directed at any member, guest, venue staff, or member of the public.

(b) Physical aggression, violence, or threatening physical behavior.

(c) Public conduct that materially harms the League’s reputation or interferes with its operations, including disruptive arguments or confrontations in front of the public, venue staff, or event attendees.

(d) Disruption of League meetings, exhibitions, events, or activities.

(e) Refusal to follow reasonable and lawful directions from officers, board members, or committee chairs acting within their authority.

(f) Conduct that jeopardizes the League’s relationship with any venue, sponsor, partner, or community organization.

(g) Theft, vandalism, or intentional damage to League property, member property, or venue property.

(h) Fraud, misrepresentation, or dishonesty in dealings with the League, its members, or the public.

(i) Conduct that creates unsafe conditions for members, guests, or the public.

(j) Unauthorized representation of the League to external parties, including but not limited to venue officials, sponsors, partner organizations, or the general public. Only officers, board members, or members expressly designated by the Board or the responsible chairperson may speak for, negotiate on behalf of, or make commitments for the League. Members who become aware of opportunities or issues involving external parties shall promptly bring the information to the appropriate officer or chairperson rather than act independently.

(k) Being intoxicated or under the influence of alcohol, illegal drugs, or any substance that impairs judgment or behavior while attending or participating in any League activity, event, meeting, or function.
